After qualifying as a paint sprayer and panel beater with both Vauxhall and Ford main dealerships, Ged only ever had one intention and that was to start his own business where he could specialise in what was quickly becoming his passion – the performance and prestige car market.
In his spare time, Ged pursued his interest in prestige and performance motor vehicle restoration and repair focusing on E-Type Jaguars and other similar marques. After building up an impressive portfolio and at the age of 22, Ged decided to take the plunge and opened his first premises specialising in repairing and modifying prestige and performance cars.
Open For Business
In 1983 the business had already outgrown the current premises and after pursuing several options Ged decided to take up an offer to enter in to a partnership with an existing company with larger premises. In 1987 after a further period of growth, Ged was now in a position to buy out his partner and take sole responsibility for the company.
Rebranding from Lloyds to Lloyds Autobody, Ged then set about achieving his dream of gaining approvals from the leading manufacturers. In the same year, Lloyds Autobody received their first approval from SAAB quickly followed by Porsche then Mercedes. Once again Ged soon realised that he was outgrowing his current premises so set about locating a plot and designing and building the current site in Liverpool. In 1995, during our high profile opening ceremony, the formula one racing driver Jonathan Palmer cut the ribbon in style and we were officially open for business.

In 1998, Lloyds Autobody achieved Porsche's Body Shop of the Year award, and in 1999 Ged achieved a fellowship in IMI for commitment to quality and service to the motor trade.

Following on from the success of the award in 1998, Porsche requested that Lloyds Autobody open a branch in Manchester to serve its customer base in that area, and still today we provide the North West's best service for approved Porsche repairs. In 2000, Lloyds Autobody Manchester opened its doors for business and since then has secured manufacturer approvals for several other prestige and performance car manufacturers including Rolls Royce, Bentley, Tesla, McLaren, Aston Martin and Ferrari.
